This is my sister, Dawn. She's trying to get Nolan to come closer. He's not buying it.
Keegan's a litte more interested, but he's not giving up his hand!
Hey cow. What's up?
Nolan's ready to go.
These two boys are going to become country boys before we know it. They are all about the cows. I was visiting family in Illinois after Kyle left and my brother asked if I wanted to take the boys to see the baby calves. It was feeding time. So we loaded up everyone, including my sister and her kids and went to a neighbors farm to see some cows. They are a dairy farm and when we got there, they were doing some milking. When I was a kid, I was around this a lot, but I had forgotten what it was like. Of course, technology is updated and there's a little difference in what I remember. Everyone was fascinated at the assembly line. Once the cows were done milking, they would exit, and another round would enter. This farming family has about 140 milking cows and it takes them about 3 hours . That's not including all the other animals they have to keep up with. For instance, these calves that we went to see, there were about 12 and one was just born that day. Brand new. Wobbly legs. Had that new "moo" sound. These babies were hungry too. Couldn't get enough of Tanner (my nephew) sucking on his hand. He couldn't stop giggling.
Have you ever had a cow suck on your hand? The tongue is very rough and it's just so slimy.
